The Compass harnesses Bedsonline's real-time data to provide clients with the latest trends and up-to-date insights to help them promote the right destinations at the right time to their customers. Through its powerful search engine, travel advisors can identify market-specific booking patterns and use the filters to set their preferences when they select a destination. Once the selection is made, travel advisors can create their own personalized and branded marketing materials directly from the tool and easily share it with their customers.

This latest upgrade, which is available in all Bedsonline markets, comes with a refreshed design and new functionality including:


	Automatic translation with information related to each destination now displayed in the client's default language.
	More data including information on hotels and destinations not currently booked.
	The inclusion of destination and hotels&nbsp;proof points meaning that from now on, travel agents will be able to see - in real time - data related to the destination and hotels based on what they buy and how much they buy so that the information is fully tailored to each and every Bedsonline client.


Since its launch in August last year, The Compass has managed over 80,000 visits for Bedsonline clients.

Bedsonline unveils latest upgrade to  its market intelligence platform, The Compass


	
	Hotelbeds has signed an agreement with the Samoa Tourism Authority, to boost in-bound tourism from Australia and New Zealand to the idyllic island of Samoa.

Palma, Spain, 3rd June 2021 &nbsp;– Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has today announced a new collaboration with Samoa Tourism Authority to drive in-bound tourism to the Pacific island in particular from Australia and New Zealand, while long-haul, international travel restrictions remain in place. &nbsp;

The campaign will focus on introducing Samoa as a tourist destination to travel trade buyers in Australia and New Zealand, highlighting the Pacific island's greatest attractions, including its beautiful landscapes, genuine hospitality and breath-taking adventure travel options. In addition, its proximity to Australia and New Zealand is another major selling point especially in the current context of long-haul travel restrictions.

The campaign, which runs from the end of May to September, will appear in Hotelbeds’ two main distribution channels, Bedsonline, targeting retail travel agencies, and Hotelbeds, focused on wholesale distribution.

As part of this deal, Hotelbeds’ Sourcing team in the region will contract more hotels in Samoa and negotiate exclusive rates to support the campaign which will then be accessible to the companies’ extensive network of buyers in Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Hotelbeds and Samoa Tourism Authority  enter into an exciting new partnership 

Orlando, Florida, 20th May 2021 – Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has today announced a new collaboration with Aruba Tourism Authority, to promote this exotic Caribbean destination, also known as ‘One Happy Island’, to its extensive network of US travel advisors.

Starting in May, Hotelbeds will work with the Aruba Tourism Authority to educate travel advisors on the island's new protocols and security measures to provide a safe and welcoming environment for both visitors and locals, in an effort to encourage more tourists to visit the island and drive tourism recovery.

As part of this agreement, Hotelbeds will gain the power to contract more hotels in the area and have access to exclusive rates which it can offer its extensive network of travel trade buyers.

The marketing campaign, which will run until mid-September, will be driven through Hotelbeds’ main distribution channels of Bedsonline - aimed at retail travel agencies - and Hotelbeds - focused on wholesale distribution.

JOAN VILÀ MOVES TO NON-EXECUTIVE ROLE ON HOTELBEDS’ BOARD 

Hotelbeds’ Executive Chairman, Joan Vilà, after dedicating more than 30 years of his career to driving significant innovation, transformation, and growth, is announcing his decision to move to a non-executive role on the Board of Hotelbeds with effect from today.

Joan had originally planned to step back from the day to day running of the company in 2020, but the impact of COVID-19 required him to delay the move to focus on successfully navigating the company through the global crisis. Now, with a strengthened balance sheet and with the company in a good position to capitalise on the recovery once travel demand returns, Joan believes that this is the right time for him to follow his original plan to move to a non-executive role on Hotelbeds’ board.

Joan Vilà commented: “I am immensely proud of everything the Hotelbeds family and I have achieved together, so first and foremost I want to thank our incredible employees and my Executive team for their passion and dedication. JOAN VILÀ PROFILE:

Joan’s background with the company stretches back to 1989 when he joined Barceló Travel Group, to lead a DMC office in Spain where he quickly demonstrated his aptitude for driving business growth. In 1999 he was appointed MD of the division, that within a year was acquired by First Choice Holidays PLC.

Around this same time, he led a strategic transformation of the business.

With a view to international expansion and driven by the early promise afforded by developments in e-commerce, Joan had the vision to establish a new online business model that sat alongside the traditional DMC business. Joan named this new platform ‘Hotelbeds’ and in so doing, set the foundation for the Bedbank online distribution model, a concept that has since become one of the fastest growing and most competitive segments of the modern travel industry. This model has been the driver of a virtuous, high growth, circle where every new international source market the company expanded into, ensured ever greater reach, efficient access and growth for its hotel partners. Due to the success of the new model, in 2003 Joan rebranded the wider company as Hotelbeds, operating it independently from the rest of the group.

Joan was appointed a member of First Choice PLC’s General Management Board. In 2007, First Choice merged with the tourism division of TUI AG to form TUI Travel PLC (the precursor of today’s TUI Group), where Joan also served on the Executive Committee.

In 2016, Hotelbeds was carved-out of TUI and acquired by Cinven and CPPIB with Joan Vilà continuing in the position of Executive Chairman. Soon after, Joan led the acquisition and integration of the 2nd and 3rd biggest players in the sector, GTA and Tourico Holidays, creating as a consequence the world’s number one bedbank.

NICOLAS HUSS PROFILE:

Nicolas is an experienced board level executive and CEO with a strong reputation in the payment, financial services and travel industries which began when he became CEO of GE Money Spain in 2008. He then joined Apollo Global Management where he was responsible for building up their Consumer Finance business in Spain and Ireland, before progressing to become the&nbsp;CEO of Visa Europe in 2013 and then of Ingenico Group, a global player in payments, in 2018.

With his extensive experience of transforming technology and digital companies, Nicolas is an inspirational value-based leader who is credited with developing high performing teams, moving at pace to drive success and organic business growth while creating dynamic and collaborative cultures through which transformation and critical business outcomes are realised.

Nicolas was appointed as a non-executive independent board director to Amadeus IT Group in 2017, where he is also Chair of the Audit Committee and also as an independent non-executive director for Entersekt, an innovator of customer-centric fintech solutions, in 2020.

In addition, Hotelbeds, despite the crisis, has recovered to pre-COVID volumes, year to date, for the wider UAE as destination. Both early bird bookings and last-minute reservations characterize the majority of the room nights sold.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Green Hotels Programme is a turn-key solution to bring Hotelbeds and its partners into the green economy and accelerate the transition of the travel industry towards sustainability – a topic whose importance has increased dramatically in light of the COVID pandemic.

To certify the +15,000 properties included in the Programme, Hotelbeds partnered with global certification companies to identify&nbsp; fully certified hotel properties following the criteria set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), the leading global authority in setting and management standards for sustainable travel and tourism.

The criteria is organised around four main themes – effective sustainability planning, maximising social and economic benefits for the local community, enhancing cultural heritage and reducing negative impacts on the environment.

This latest announcement comes just a few weeks after we became one of the first travel companies to join Amazon and The Climate Pledge Commitment to become net zero carbon by 2040 as well as actively participating in the World Travel &amp; Trade Council’s Sustainability Workforce.

	The campaign will target Hotelbeds’ large portfolio of travel agents in five different European source market to take part in the virtual tours.


Palma, Spain, 25th March 2021 – Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has today announced an innovative agreement with Lausanne Tourism to encourage travel agents to participate in Lausanne Virtual Fam Trips.

Targeted at travel agents across Europe, this campaign will run until the end of May 2021 and will promote the Swiss city of Lausanne – voted in 2020 as the first ever ‘Best Small City in the World’ by the journalists of the tourism and economics magazine, Monocle.&nbsp;

Hotelbeds strongly believes in the potential of Lausanne as a top destination which is why it has partnered with the tourism board to help them reach 400 agents from five different European source markets identified to take part in the virtual series.

The campaign consists of a series of virtual trips to discover the city, its surroundings and attractions. Over the course of three webinars – on 31st March, 29th April and 3rd June – travel agents who register in advance will be able to remotely visit the city of Lausanne and its surroundings, as well as learn about its heritage and gastronomy, so that they can get to know the destination in detail and offer it to their clients when safe travel resumes.

If travel agents are not available to join the live virtual tour, they can still register and receive a recording of the Virtual Fam Trip. Additionally, the first 200 registered agents will receive a special gift from the Tourism Board.
