Julio Faerman, Amazon Web Services Technical Evangelist and a Terry Von Bibra, Alibaba Group General Manager Europe will provide key-note speeches focused on the MarketHub ‘SHIFTING FUTURES’ theme in order to give clarity around how the travel sector should react to changes and shifts in the industry in terms of key topics such as technology, the complexity of distribution, payments and data.

In addition to Amazon and Alibaba, the leading trade media publication Skift and the respected travel technology analyst Phocuswright are both sending senior speakers to provide a key-note talk followed by hosting a round table.

Tom Jenkins, CEO of the European Tourism Association (ETOA) will also participate on stage with a key-note address to the audience.

	Ahead of the Hotelbeds MarketHub Americas event in Cancun in May, Hotelbeds confirms that over 43,000 unique hotels are contracting with Hotelbeds across the Americas market.
	Total number of contracted hotels in the region has grown by nearly 14% in the current year.

Orlando, FL 1 May 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading business to business bedbank, has confirmed, ahead of its MarketHub Americas event, it has 43,000 uniquely contracted hotels in the Americas region, including North, Central and South America.

These figures are in part a result of the integration of Tourico Holidays and GTA into Hotelbeds during 2017 and make the Americas one of the most important markets for Hotelbeds worldwide with approximately one quarter of the bedbank’s global portfolio of 180,000 hotels.

Meanwhile, the signing of significant strategic hotelier partnerships during the last year has helped to grow the number of hotels in the Americas region by nearly 14%. This forms part of a steady growth as every year more and more hoteliers seek to gain access to Hotelbeds’ complementary bookings via its network of 60,000 travel intermediaries, including tour operators, retail travel agents, airlines, points redemption and loyalty partners.

The MarketHub Americas event is an invitation-only, three-day event attended by some of the most important Hotelbeds partners from all the key markets across the Americas. Attendees range from senior executives and decision makers from tour operators, airlines, loyalty and point redemption businesses to leading travel agency chains and online travel advisors.

Hotelbeds launches ‘Star Collection Online’ to boost bookings for hotel partners


	Ten of top 30 destinations for Chinese travellers during International Labour Day holiday period in 2019 are non-Asian destinations, up from only three last year. *
	Longer than usual International Labour Day period of four-days starting May 1 is driving demand for travel.
	Government decision on 22nd March to extend the holiday to four days resulted in around 75% year-on-year increase in reservations on Hotelbeds platform in following weeks.&nbsp; &nbsp;
	China now ranks as Hotelbeds’ fourth biggest source market globally, driving incremental bookings for Hotelbeds’ portfolio of 180,000 hotels globally.


Shanghai, China – April 29, 2019 – Hotelbeds, the world´s leading business-to-business bedbank, has today revealed the top international destinations for Chinese travellers during the four day International Labour Day holiday period starting on Wednesday, May 1st.

According to booking data from the Hotelbeds platform for this year’s break, ten of the top 30 international destinations for Chinese travellers during International Labour Day in 2019 are non-Asian destinations, up from only three last year.

Paris and London are listed in the top 30 destinations in 9th and 15th places respectively, with Paris last year coming in at number 23 and London not ranking at all in the top 30.

Further down the top 30 ranking, Paris and London are followed by other non-Asian destinations such as Prague (22nd), Barcelona (23rd), Dubai (24th), Honolulu (26th), Madrid (27th), New York (28th), Melbourne (29th), and Rome (30th).

This year’s jump in the number of non-Asian destinations could in part be explained by the fact that this year Chinese citizens will enjoy an extra day of holiday during International Labour Day, taking the break to four days total.

International Labour Day is a nationwide holiday in China. It used to be a seven day “Golden Week” until it was shortened in 2008. The date of International Labour Day is on May 1st and it remains the same year to year, but the working and non-working days plan varies each year, according to the government’s plan, which is normally a three day holiday.

However this year’s extra day was only announced recently by the State of China, when on March 22 it announced a reshuffling of the non-working days for the Labour Day Holiday. This has resulted in a surge of extra accommodation bookings – with Hotelbeds’ data showing a year-on-year increase of around 75% in the weeks following the government’s surprise announcement.&nbsp;

Sam Turner, Wholesale Sales &amp; Sourcing Director at Hotelbeds, said, “As more Chinese travellers travel abroad, we are continuously finding ways to connect our Chinese B2B travel buying clients and their Chinese travellers with our extensive network of hoteliers across the world. We’ve worked hard over the last few years to raise awareness with our Western hotelier partners on how to best attract Chinese travellers to their hotel, advising them on points such as not just language, but strategies such as social media, payments and even Chinese travellers’ tastes. It’s during holiday periods such as this that the benefit for our Western hoteliers suddenly becomes very clear.”

Hui-Wan Chua, APAC Regional Director for Wholesale Sales at Hotelbeds, said, “For this year’s International Labour Day holiday we noticed a strong picked up in booking for medium-to long-haul trips especially for popular international destinations. This is likely due to the longer holiday period driving advanced bookings – this year we saw the same booking figures in March that we’d seen in April the year before - and in the weeks after the government announcement we saw an overall surge of around 75% in year-on-year bookings. Our Chinese B2B travel buying customers are very hungry for hotels that suit the needs and budget of their travelers as more and more Chinese travelers venture beyond Asia for the first time.”

Currently a total of 180,000 unique hotels are available on the Hotelbeds system and a majority of the hotels are directly contracted under exclusive terms and conditions. This growth has been driven by the renewed focus of Hotelbeds in providing its hotel partners with complementary bookings via its network of 60,000 travel buyers from both non-domestic source markets and B2B buyers – including tour operators, retail travel agents, airline websites and loyalty and reward points schemes.

Hotelbeds connects Western hoteliers with Chinese travellers during International Labour Day

	Hotelbeds has tripled the size of its Middle East regional team in the last two years.
	The new office is located in Reef Tower and accommodates around 200 people.


Dubai, 25 April 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading business-to-business bedbank, has confirmed today its commitment to the Middle East and Africa regions with the opening of a new office in Dubai.

During the last two years the company has tripled the size of its local team – following the acquisitions of Tourico Holidays and GTA – and recently decided to unify the business and teams into one single space in Dubai

The new office is located in Reef Tower and accommodates around 200 people, including the sourcing, wholesale sales, retail, operations and finance teams, all of whom are focused on inbound and outbound business from the region.

Hotelbeds has a long history of commitment to Dubai, with GTA operating in the city since 1998 and Hotelbeds establishing its regional office in Dubai in 2012.

This news comes ahead of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) fair in Dubai, taking place from Sunday 28 April to Wednesday 1 May, where Hotelbeds can be found on stand TT1430.

Palma and New Delhi, April 15, 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading business-to-business bedbank and OYO Hotels &amp; Homes, the world’s 6th largest hotel chain, today, announced a strategic global distribution partnership. The preferred agreement represents OYO’s first-ever distribution partnership with a bedbank.

The partnership provides OYO with access to more than 60,000 travel buying intermediaries around the world that use the Hotelbeds platform, including tour operators, airline websites, points redemption programs, loyalty plans from more than 140 source markets.

As a result of this Hotelbeds’ clients will have access to OYO’s portfolio of more than 18,000 franchised and leased hotels and over 10,000 homes and villas, across ten countries – including India, China, Malaysia, Nepal, the UK, UAE, Indonesia, the Philippines, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and now Japan.

Through this partnership, OYO Hotels &amp; Homes, will be able to distribute its hotel rooms via both the wholesale channel, which operates under the ‘Hotelbeds’ name and the retail travel agent channel, which operates under the ‘Bedsonline’ brand – all united under one contract.

11 April, 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading business-to-business bedbank, has announced today a strategic distribution partnership with KILIT HOSPITALITY GROUP, Turkey’s largest leisure hotel company and the owners of Crystal Hotel Chain, Amara World Hotels and Nirvana Lagoon Luxury.

Building on over 10 years of working together, the recently signed and significantly expanded partnership takes the form of a preferred agreement that will provide Hotelbeds with exclusive access to KILIT HOSPITALITY GROUP’s Ultra All-Inclusive 5-star hotels that offer guests 24-hours-a-day service.&nbsp;

The partnership provides KILIT HOSPITALITY GROUP with access to world’s largest distribution of high value clients provided by Hotelbeds with +60,000 tour operators, points redemption schemes, airlines, and retail travel agents from more than 140 source markets.

As a result of this Hotelbeds’ clients will have access to KILIT HOSPITALITY GROUP’s portfolio of more than 25,000 beds across 17 hotels that operate under various sub-brands in prominent Turkish tourist locations such as Side, Belek, Kemer and Bodrum.

Additionally, through this partnership KILIT HOSPITALITY GROUP will be able to distribute its hotel rooms via both the wholesale channel, which operates under the ‘Hotelbeds’ name, and the retail travel agent channel, which operates under the ‘Bedsonline’ brand – all united under one contract.

Tomeu Gili has been recruited as the Director of Sales for Bedsonline’s Asian, Middle Eastern and African source markets, a new position created combining both regions under one leader. In this role Tomeu will be based in Dubai and will lead a team of seventy people.

He will be responsible for supporting Bedsonline’s existing travel agency customers in the local markets to drive growth while further expanding and diversifying the number of agencies working with Bedsonline’s class leading booking platform.&nbsp;

Tomeu brings with him over 20 years of experience in the travel industry, most recently in leadership positions for companies such as Destinations of the World, RTS and Gowaii Corp.

Previous to this Tomeu worked for Bedsonline in senior leadership roles for 12 years, since the brand’s launch in 2003. During this time he held a range of positions including Head of Sales for Middle East and Asia Pacific and Head of Sales for South Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean and Africa.

Orlando, FL 13 March 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has announced today the most booked destinations for Americans based on its booking platform data for the March 2019 Spring Break season.

As per the latest data report from the Hotelbeds booking platform – which is used by travel buying intermediaries such as travel agents, tour operators and points redemptions schemes – for this year’s March Spring Break, Orlando leads the report as the most visited destination at a worldwide level for Americans during this period.

Orlando is followed, in descending order, by Las Vegas, New York, Rome, Paris, Barcelona, London, Miami, New Orleans, and Cancun as the most visited cities.

Filtering the rankings at an international level, the top five destinations for Americans during the month of March has Rome in the lead, followed by Paris, Barcelona, London, and Cancun.

Looked at from a local level the top five ranking destinations are Orlando, closely followed by Las Vegas, New York, Miami, and New Orleans.


While Los Angeles didn’t make the cut for this year’s top 10 travel destinations and was replaced by New Orleans in Hotelbeds’ latest booking report, L.A. still remains a very popular destination among American travellers, falling behind to New Orleans by only a small amount of bookings, and taking the 11th spot on our ranking this year.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the biggest source markets for travellers visiting the United States during this March Spring Break period are Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Brazil, and Canada – all in descending order.

According to the U.S. Travel Association China is considered to be the most notable source market in terms of its growth in the international rankings, going from the 22nd largest source market in the year 2000, to third largest currently, and projected to be the second largest in 2019.

According to the booking data from the Hotelbeds platform, Chinese travellers account for almost 3% of all bookings made into the United States[2] – during this Spring Break 2019 period, the company registered an increase of nearly 40% of Chinese outbound bookings into Orlando, the most visited destination for March Spring Breakers this year.

Top booking destinations for March Spring Break revealed by Hotelbeds


	Over 10,000 hotels have signed-up for the Hotelbeds platform over the last year, mainly in North America and Asia-Pacific, to reach 180,000 unique hotels.
	Growth driven by renewed focus on providing hoteliers with incremental bookings via expanded B2B network of over 60,000 travel buyers.

Palma, 6th March 2019. Hotelbeds, the world´s leading bedbank, has today confirmed at ITB Berlin an increase in the number of its hotel partners.

During the last year Hotelbeds has increased by 10,000 the number of unique hotels – mainly located in the North American and Asia-Pacific markets – available on its platform.

Currently a total of 180,000 unique hotels are available on the Hotelbeds system and a majority of the hotels are directly contracted under exclusive terms and conditions.

This growth has been driven by the renewed focus of Hotelbeds in providing its hotel partners with complementary bookings via its network of 60,000 travel buyers from both non-domestic source markets and B2B buyers – including tour operators, retail travel agents, airline websites and loyalty and reward points schemes.

In particular there has been an increase in signing strategic partnerships with key hotel chains globally and preferred agreements with channel managers worldwide. This has in part been supported by the expansion of the contracting workforce to over 1,100 contractors based around the world in popular local destinations.

In early February Hotelbeds announced that, following the acquisitions of Tourico Holidays and GTA into its business, now 90% of its hotel partners have access to all of the over 60,000 travel buying intermediaries that use the Hotelbeds platform. Such channels attract guests who book further in advance, cancel less, stay longer, spend more in-destination, and re-book more frequently.

As part of this change Hotelbeds’ hotel partners are now unified under the same terms and conditions, whilst also having access to a simplified and unified billing and account management service.
