	Hotelbeds supports a Renewable Energy Project in India to offset its carbon emissions


Palma, 10 October 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has announced today that it has been certified for the second consecutive year as a Carbon Neutral Organisation by Cabon Fooprint Ltd, an independent body that accredits carbon management measurements and best practices for businesses, by offsetting companies CO2 emissions.

This prestigious accreditation reflects Hotelbeds’ commitment to reduce its environmental impact and ensure long-term sustainability by offsetting its carbon emissions generated in the past two years.

Due to business travel being one of Hotelbeds’ larger carbon emissions factor, during 2018 the company created a programme whereby a small fee is charged per business flight taken by employees. This money is then used to finance the carbon neutral project and also forms part of a desire to encourage a reduction in travel and increase company and employee awareness around the importance of carbon offsetting.

In 2018 the funds raised from this programme were donated to the Portel-Pará Deforestation Project, which is located within Brazil’s Amazon, the largest remaining rainforest on our planet, to prevent unplanned deforestation.

For 2019 Hotelbeds has chosen to give the funds to the Renewable Energy Project in India, that manages the installation of solar panels in the country, ensuring energy security, diversification of energy sources and sustainable development in the generation of electricity in India.

As part of the certification process, carbon emission calculations, including energy and paper consumptions, waste management, business travel and water supply, were completed by Hotelbeds, using metrics devised by Carbon Footprint Ltd, the sustainability experts.

Carbon Footprint Ltd has also successfully completed a verification of the carbon footprint assessment for Hotelbeds Group. This included spot-checking source data from across the group as well as reviewing the overall methodology.

“As part of this responsibility, an environmental policy has been developed that includes a commitment to tackle these emissions, including setting annual emissions reduction targets. We have also developed guidelines and a communication campaign to help employees implement the new environmental policy, including practical tips on how to reduce environmental consumption at work and to raise awareness of climate change and how it relates to Hotelbeds.

Palma, October 8h 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, today provided an update on the Italian market whilst participating at TTG Rimini in Italy.

Year on year room night sales for the South of Italy and islands have grown more than 20%.

Spain is the main source market driver of growth for hotel bookings in the South of Italy, supported by other markets with a significant increase such as the UK, the USA, Germany and Italy.

Meanwhile Asia-Pacific continues to grow as an important source market for Italy, with an overall growth of 60% compared to last year – with Australia and China climbing ten positions, from 22nd to 12th.

This strong growth has been driven by a 180% increase in the number of preferred agreements that Hotelbeds has with leading hoteliers across the region, under exclusive terms and conditions. Such agreements offer greater stability in booking volumes for hoteliers whilst at the same time providing competitive rates for B2B customers around the world.

Additionally, during the last year Hotelbeds has increased by over 30% the number of unique hotels available overall, mainly located in top destinations such as Sicily, Naples, North Sardinia, Sorrento and Puglia.

Altogether Hotelbeds has attracted this year guest bookings from B2B clients from more than 100 source markets to the South of Italy, including the islands of Sicily and Sardinia.

The strong growth of international travellers visiting the region demonstrates the great value that Hotelbeds offers to hoteliers by making available its extensive network of 60,000 B2B travel trade clients, including high-value B2B clients, such as retail travel agencies, traditional tour operators, points redemption and loyalty scheme, and airlines.

Bookings via such B2B buyers on average provide guests whose travellers pay more per night, cancel less, book further in advance, spend more in destination and comeback more often.

Oriol Garriga, Director of Contracting for Italy at Hotelbeds says: “Hotels across the South of Italy and the islands really value the non-domestic bookings that we are able to offer them as these represent incremental bookings they couldn´t have gained easily for themselves. Additionally such guests typically pay a higher rate, cancel less, stay for longer, spend more at the hotel and come back more often.

“Who doesn´t want guests like that? As a result of this our contracting team have been able to close three times more preferred agreements – under exclusive terms and conditions – than the year before, resulting in a virtuous circle of more bookings and then more demand from hoteliers to work with us.”

Strong increase in hotel reservations for Southern Italy via Hotelbeds


	Non-domestic reservations made via the Hotelbeds platform for North American hotels have doubled, registering an average of 60% non-domestic reservations for the current fiscal year.[1]
	Growth supported by many long-haul source markets, not least China that has seen 62% growth over the last year.
	Non-domestic, and in particular long-haul, bookings typically pay more, cancel less, book further in advance, stay for longer, return more often, and spend more in destination.

Orlando, FL 1 October&nbsp;2019. Hotelbeds, the world´s leading bedbank, has today provided an update on the non-domestic bookings that its B2B channels of distribution offers to its North American hotel partners.[2]

An analysis undertaken by Hotelbeds has confirmed that the percentage of bookings for its North American hotels originating from non-domestic source markets has doubled over the past two years, with an average of 60% for the current year.

Within the non-domestic bookings provided to hotels, up to 80% of those reservations currently come from long-haul source markets – defined as markets that require a minimum flight of seven hours.

Long-haul bookings are particularly valued by hoteliers as such travellers stay for an average of 18 nights and overall make up 84% of international tourism spend in the United States, despite representing less than half of all arrivals.[3]

This growth in long-haul tourists reserving North American hotels via the Hotelbeds platform can be mainly attributed to a 62% year-on-year increase in reservations from Chinese tourists via Hotelbeds, with China now ranking as Hotelbeds’ fourth largest source market to North America.&nbsp;

In fact, long-haul travellers typically stay even longer and spend much more at the hotel and destination.

“Long-haul bookings in particular are surging now because of the increasing bookings made by Chinese visitors. For many years now we have been educating and raising awareness amongst our North American hotelier partners on how to better cater to Chinese visitors staying at their hotels, focused on targeting their tastes and preferences, methods of payments, social media, and language needs.” &nbsp;

Currently over 180,000 unique hotels globally are available on the Hotelbeds system – a majority of which are directly contracted under exclusive terms and conditions.

Shanghai, 26th September 2019&nbsp;–&nbsp;Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has today provided an update on the top international destinations for Chinese travellers during the seven day Chinese National Day holiday period starting on Tuesday October 1.&nbsp;

According to Hotelbeds’ booking data for this year’s break, five of the top ten international destination countries of this year are Asian and the other five are Non-Asian – with the list topped by Thailand and followed by, in descending order, Japan, Singapore, the United States, Italy, Indonesia, Malaysia, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

In 2017 there were only two non-Asian destination countries – the United States and Italy – in the list of the top 10 China outbound destinations. In 2018 that number increased to four – the United States, Italy, France, and Spain – and this year the number has increased to five.

Chinese travellers are also travelling to a wider range of countries, with Chinese bookings through Hotelbeds for 113 different countries during the National Day holiday period, up from 106 in 2017 and 111 in 2018.

According to the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), a total of 7 million Chinese mainland tourists travelled aboard during the seven-day National Day holiday in 2018.

Orlando, FL, - Palma, 12 September 2019. Hotelbeds, the world's leading bedbank, has today announced a strategic alliance with Selina, one of the fastest growing hotel brands in the world.

This strategic agreement will give Selina access to Hotelbeds’ large high-value distribution network made up of more than 60,000 travel agents, airlines, tour operators and loyalty programs in more than 140 source markets worldwide.

At the same time, Hotelbeds customers will have, from now on, access to the Selina hotel portfolio, consisting of more than 52 properties located mainly in Latin America, but also located across Europe, with properties in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Greece, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

The hotel chain plans to open more than 35 locations in 2019, including upcoming openings in the United States, United Kingdom, Portugal, Greece, Germany, Chile, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. By 2023 Selina expects to have more than 130,000 beds in more than 400 locations around the world, all of which Hotelbeds will also have access to.

From 2020 the MarketHub events – typically attended by up to 600 participants from leading tour operators, airlines, loyalty and points redemption schemes – will now be taking place on an annual basis in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

MarketHubs are an invitation-only, three-day event&nbsp;that bring together the key decision makers of the top travel distribution players in a dynamic environment of presentations, networking and entertainment. These events have become a regular milestone in the calendar of Hotelbeds’ clients since their launch in 2009.

Additionally for 2020, Hotelbeds will hold hotelier focused events based on the successful MarketHub format. In the meantime, Hotelbeds will also be increasing the frequency of its regular series of smaller-scale events for its partners in destinations around the world.

Forrest joins Hotelbeds in a newly created role becoming directly responsible for all the company's activities which are focused on the Chinese market, reporting directly to Carlos Muñoz, Managing Director at Hotelbeds.

The recruitment of Forrest will allow Hotelbeds to further strengthen its position as the world's leading bedbank, placing a strategic focus on this key market which is already its fourth biggest source market globally.

Forrest joins Hotelbeds from Expedia, where he held the position of Director of Market Management, Mainland China. He brings with him a huge experience in both general management, sales leadership and market development in different industries across mainland China, including hotels, serviced apartments, vacation rental acquisitions and account management. He was responsible for managing relationships with Expedia's extensive hotel portfolio, including global accounts, local chains and independent hotels on property level.

Palma, 3rd September 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has announced today a partnership with Luxair Luxembourg Airlines, the flag carrier of Luxembourg that carries almost 2 million passengers every year.

As part of the deal, Hotelbeds will deliver to Luxair its proprietary dynamic packaging platform for Luxair City Break product, providing a curated accommodation inventory of +7,000 hotels across Luxair’s twenty European destinations, and will act as merchant providing fulfilling services to the final Luxair customer.

To complement the Luxair City Break Dynamic Packaging offering, this agreement will also include a standalone hotel-only white-label platform operating as a tab on the home page of Luxair – plus cross-sell via other touchpoints such as email confirmation, manage by booking page, and more.

As a result of this agreement Luxair will gain a wider international reach from Hotelbeds’ network of hotels in over 185 countries with over 180,000 unique hotels, 24,000 transfer routes and 18,000 activities – all sourced by a team of over 1,100 contracting professionals located in the most popular destinations around the world.

This deals adds to the over 40 airlines that currently partner with Hotelbeds, reinforcing its position as an ideal strategic partner for airlines to fulfil their non-air ancillary revenues strategy and for hoteliers to optimize their distribution, accessing hard-to-reach and non-domestic travellers that typically book further in advance, cancel less, spend more in destination, stay longer, and return more often.

Palma, Spain, 20th August 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, today has announced a new long-term strategic partnership with Side Crown Hotels, the Turkish hotel group.

Building on over 8 years of working together, the recently renewed partnership takes the form of a preferred agreement that will provide Hotelbeds with exclusive access to Side Crown Hotels’ portfolio of more than 1,440 rooms and 3,200 beds across four hotels in Antalya, Turkey.

This partnership extension will provide Side Crown Hotels with distribution access to more than 60,000 travel buying B2B intermediaries around the world that use the Hotelbeds platform, including tour operators, airlines, points redemption programs, retail travel agents, and loyalty &amp; points redemption plans from more than 140 source markets.

As part of this new agreement Side Crown Hotels, who already has wide brand recognition and distribution in the German market,&nbsp;will now widen their reach to 140 source markets globally.

Tokyo, 7th August 2019 – Hotelbeds, the world´s leading bedbank, has announced today a partnership with Adventure Inc., the Japanese online travel business in Japan and owner of Skyticket.

The agreement with Hotelbeds is Adventure’s first partnership with a global business-to-business accommodation wholesaler partner and forms part of Adventure’s plans to expand its sales presence globally.

This new collaboration increases Adventure’s inventory by gaining access to more than 180,000 unique hotel properties globally available via the Hotelbeds system, many of them under exclusive terms and conditions.

Meanwhile the addition of one of Japan’s leading online travel businesses to the client portfolio gives the hotel partners of Hotelbeds further access to one of the world’s most important outbound travel source markets.

Adventure’s Skyticket website sells tickets for 17 domestic airlines and over 500 international airlines, as well as accommodation.
